Hello! My Name Is …. Dave Cairns

CCI-USA

Where were you born and where do you live now?

I was born in Chicago, IL and now live in Brooklyn Park, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis)

Tell us about your family.

I met my wife while we were both working at the same camp.  We’ve been married for 19 years and have three children: our son Drew is 17, our son Trent is 15 and our daughter Annis is 12

What role(s) do you have in Christian camping? How have you been involved in CCI?

I currently serve as Executive Director of Covenant Pines Ministries. CPM is owned by the 45 Evangelical Covenant denominational churches located in the Minneapolis/St Paul area of Minnesota. Previously I have served 10 years on the section cabinet: six as treasurer and three as president. I have also been involved with CCI-Russia on a very local level leading workshops for camp staff in the Ural Mountain region of central

What do you do on your day off?

I enjoy reading, hiking and running. We just purchased a house, so I often spend my days off now doing projects around the house.

Besides the Bible, what is your favorite book?

I very much enjoy fictional mystery books. I find them as a way to escape and relax for a few hours.

What kind of music do you like? Any favorite recording artists or song?

I have a very eclectic taste in music, but my “go to” choice would be David Crowder.

What is your favorite Bible verse? Any story that tells us why?

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.” Psalms 139:13-18

These words provided great comfort me during an intense time of need in my life. They helped me reclaim my identity as a child of God.

What else should we know about you?

I now serve at the camp where my father was hired as the first year-round employee 43 years ago. His job was to run the summer camp and winterize the property to expand into a year round ministry.
