A Slice of Fresh Bread

While in college, I had borrowed a friend's car and drove from Seattle to Vancouver, Canada to watch my brother run in a track meet.  It was a great day for a drive and the meet went well.  The fun stopped when I tried to reenter the United States with a car that didn't belong to me.

I waited for hours in a little room while the authorities "did their job".  They checked the license plates (this was before computer technology) against reports of stolen cars.  They looked in the trunk and under the floor mats hoping to discover some hidden contraband. 

Eventually I was allowed to wrap my sweaty palms around the steering wheel and drive past the Peace Arch into the USA.  What a relief to be home.  There is a sense of security and stability that comes from being home.  Citizenship has its privileges along with its responsibilities.

Paul reminds us of our true citizenship in Philippians 3:20 where he says, "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ."  We have rights and responsibilities as citizens of God's Kingdom.  Our primary responsibility is to be a good ambassador, representing well the King of Kings to a world that desperately needs the Prince of Peace.

Prayer Requests

1. Honduras is experiencing significant political unrest. Please pray that this will be resolved quickly and honorably and that the turmoil will not impede ministry opportunities in that area.

2. CCI-New Zealand will host its bi-annual national conference this August 9-13. Please pray for the planning and preparation for this important training event.

3. Please pray for the safety of campers and staff at Christian camps around the world.

4. August 2-4 CCI's Australian affiliate, Christian Venues Association, will hold its bi-annual Leadership Forum. Please pray for the planning and preparation for this major event.

5. Praise the Lord that CCI-Worldwide ended the year with all bills paid and a small reserve fund to start next year. Please pray for the continued financial support of this ministry.
