Walking Away From Easter

“Let this one great, gracious, glorious fact lie in your spirit until it permeates all your thoughts and makes you rejoice even though you are without strength. Rejoice that the Lord Jesus has become your strength and your song – He has become your salvation.”
Charles H. Spurgeon

A SLICE OF FRESH BREAD

As he concluded His earthly ministry, Jesus gathered His disciples and said, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:46-47)

Jesus’ suffering had ended, and He had risen from the dead on the third day. But the third part of the passage remains. The preaching of repentance and forgiveness of sins lingers 2,000 years later.

Easter is the great hinge of history. Christ’s victory closes the door on sin and death, but opens the door for us to share God’s truth and love as we call people to repentance and offer God’s forgiveness of sin.

That’s good news.

Easter is the high point in the Christian calendar. But it is not a moment to celebrate and forget. Just as we walk toward Easter with a Lenten focus, let us walk from Easter with a renewed commitment to share the good news of God’s victory. The good news of repentance and the forgiveness of sins is a gift we can shared year-round, with all people, in all parts of the world.

PRAYER REQUESTS

A group of camp directors who have grown up and developed at CCI-Ukraine training events over the past twenty years, are running a camp staff training workshop for their region. CCI Ukraine has been invited to help plan the workshop and to provide the training. The training event is held on April 21-22. We will be thankful for your prayers. This will be the second major training event this spring.

Please pray for the joint convention taking place May 15-19 for CCI-Latin America and CCI-Brazil. Pray for the month-out preparations going on now, for the speakers and sessions to be encouraging and instructive, for safety in travel and for participants to be better equipped to serve the Lord and others in their ministries.

CCI-UK value your prayers for office staff Linda and Carolyn, both recovering from operations, together with Karen and Dave who are standing in for them temporarily. Also please pray for several members facing large capital projects - both those doing complete site rebuilds and those extending or replacing worn out facilities. For some, this means reduced income or even closure for a period, with the consequent threat to repeat business. Please pray for patient endurance and unquenched hope during the disruption and upheaval, as well as greater success in ministry in future are a result of the changes.

Please pray for camps in Canada. Some of the camps are getting negative media attention regarding policies on the Code of Conduct of the staff, specifically as it relates to gender identity. Pray that God will give wisdom, discernment, and discretion. Pray for courage to stand up for God's Word.

CCI-Albania (RrKK) is making plans for a conference at ERSEKA May 4-7 with Shaun Thompson speaking. The Theme is "EMBRACE THE CHALLENGE" of Christian Camping, seeing “challenge” as a positive learning and development experience. Pray for good networking, worship and Bible teaching, for a good attendance and great blessings, and for the steering group of Asim, Anila & Ann as they organize the details and invite leaders to come

CCI-Mexico asks for prayer for their north sectional conference June 2-4 in Chihuahua. This is the second year they are doing sectional conferences, and is the first one in the north of the country. They are also working in the transition from an operative board to a policy board, which includes the hiring of a new executive director and lots of work just understanding what this means. They trust God is guiding them this way, but ask for prayer for His direction in every step they take. They have also recently hired their first executive director: Shawn Inchaustegui. Please pray for him, his new role and that God would continue to guide this ministry and their new structure.

  Pray for CCI-Spain:

  • Pray for the efforts of CCI/Spain in the country of Portugal.  Ask the Father to build godly relationships for His glory.
  • Pray for the new board of CCI/SPAIN as they take on their new responsibilities.  Ask God’s blessing on them and their families.
