A Noble Task

“The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.”

A SLICE OF FRESH BREAD

This week the CCI-Worldwide Board of Directors is meeting to set the direction for the coming year and beyond.

Eight Christian camping leaders from Australia, Canada, Kenya, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, Spain, and the United States are stretching their hearts and minds to discern God’s will and establish the best path forward for the organization.

Board work can be fun and rewarding; it can also be intense and challenging. It requires the talents and commitments of mature leaders.

Paul gave his young friend Timothy some sage advice about leaders. He said, “Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task.” (1 Timothy 3:1)

The root of the word translated “sets his heart” has to do with stretching. Leading can be a challenging and stretching experience. But the task is noble. Please pray for the CCI-Worldwide Board as they stretch themselves to do the noble work of leading this movement.

PRAYER REQUESTS

The third major training event for camp leaders in CCI-Ukraine is scheduled for April 30-May 2. 100+ camp leaders from several churches of the same denomination will get together for training, fellowship and inspiration. Some of these leaders were trained by CCI-Ukraine years ago. Now they want CCI-Ukraine to provide training for their next generation of leaders. This is our mandate. We are humbled and privileged to be able to touch so many lives. Please, support our efforts in prayer as we serve the needs of this group.

Praise the Lord for a fruitful and productive CCI-Romaniaconference.  Conference attendance was at an all-time high. Please pray that the participants will be able to implement what they learned for even greater ministry effectiveness. Please continue to pray for CCI-Romania Director Andreas Van der Elst as he seeks new housing for his family.

CC-New Zealand requests prayer for several upcoming events. May 23-25 is their New Managers Boost in Auckland. CCNZ has eight new managers and want to connect with them to support and encourage them. During that event there will be a CCNZ Executive Board meeting so the board members can meet these new managers. Please also pray for these three back-to-back events  this summer: Managers Boost – July 30-31; Rewire, a CCNZ Conference August 3-31; Marriage Retreat –August 3-6.

CCI-Albania asks for prayer for their Annual Conference that will be held at Crossroads Camps (Torchbearers Albania) May 4-7. Pray that more people will register during these last two weeks and that they will have an encouraging and beneficial time together at the conference.

Please pray for the joint convention taking place May 15-19 for CCI-Latin America and CCI-Brazil. Pray for the month-out preparations going on now, for the speakers and sessions to be encouraging and instructive, for safety in travel and for participants to be better equipped to serve the Lord and others in their ministries.

CCI-UK value your prayers for office staff Linda and Carolyn, both recovering from operations, together with Karen and Dave who are standing in for them temporarily. Also please pray for several members facing large capital projects - both those doing complete site rebuilds and those extending or replacing worn out facilities. For some, this means reduced income or even closure for a period, with the consequent threat to repeat business. Please pray for patient endurance and unquenched hope during the disruption and upheaval, as well as greater success in ministry in future are a result of the changes.

CCI-Mexico asks for prayer for their north sectional conference June 2-4 in Chihuahua. This is the second year they are doing sectional conferences, and is the first one in the north of the country. They are also working in the transition from an operative board to a policy board, which includes the hiring of a new executive director and lots of work just understanding what this means. They trust God is guiding them this way, but ask for prayer for His direction in every step they take. They have also recently hired their first executive director: Shawn Inchaustegui. Please pray for him, his new role and that God would continue to guide this ministry and their new structure.
