A Spiritual Harvest

Posted by Dan Bolin on OA10er @ 10:12
“No ray of sunlight is ever lost, but the green which it awakes into existence needs time to sprout, and it is not always granted to the sower to see the harvest. All work that is worth anything is done in faith.”

Albert Schweitzer

A few weeks ago, my wife and I enjoyed a morning picking blueberries and blackberries at a nearby U-Pick farm. Now we enjoy berry cobblers, berry pies, berry jam, berries with yogurt, and even berries sprinkled on ice cream!

U-Pick farms are the best! Someone else buys the land, owns the tractors, prepares the soil, plants the crops, waters the bushes, pulls the weeds, and generally takes care of all the hard work. Then God produces the crop and we get to pick the berries and (for a price) enjoy the harvest!

Paul uses a similar illustration in I Corinthians 3. He wrote, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (I Corinthian 3:6-7)

Sometimes Christian camping is like a U-Pick farm. Sunday school teachers, pastors, youth workers, and Bible study leaders work hard all year long. Then children and young people attend camp and the counselors, cabin leaders, or speakers enjoy the harvest that God provides.

This summer, whether you have toiled all year or for a few days at camp, enjoy the spiritual harvest that God provides. But give glory to God for the great things He has done.

Christian Camping Community Malaysia would like to thank God for the opportunity they had to share Christian venues to Christian youths and adults during a recent conference in Kuala Lumpur. They are now praying for another event in October or November to share the benefits of Christian camps and using of Christian venues. Please pray that God will guide them every step of the way.

CC-New Zealand is pleased to report that 30 people attend their Managers Boost event in May and approximately eight were New Managers to camping. CCNZ thanks and praises the Lord that the event was very well received. They are also thankful that that three upcoming events are receiving good bookings as well.

Please pray for discussions about a consultation and sharing meeting in Budapest, Hungary. Conversations are at an early stage about bringing camping leaders together in September to meet and perhaps develop a network.

CCSA reports having a wonderful conference last week and would like to thank each and every executive member, member and speaker for their involvement. They appreciate all the prayers for safety and wellbeing of our members. Please still pray for the Western Cape Province as some areas have had rain, but much more is needed. Also pray for families that lost their homes in a furious fire in the Knysna area. Lastly, please pray for the CCSA newly elected Executive team.

Please pray for the upcoming
CCI-East Africa Camp Fair to be held June 24. This event is a platform for camp owners/ those with property that can be used as a campsite to meet decision makers from churches & other organizations and introduce them to their campsite. It is also for those who run camps programs or those in support services e.g transport, catering, equipment, tents etc. to market and sell their services to ready customers. Pray for all the different categories of people and the fun-loving campers out there, that there will be a wonderful turnout, that many will learn how to use camping as a ministry tool and want to plug into ACC. Pray for the weather on that day that it will not rain and that they will get the right sponsors we are seeking to sponsor this event.

Please keep praying for the training events in West Africa taking place right now. Team development will be the focus in Accra, Ghana this week and an overview of Christian camping in Freetown, Sierra Leone on June 17-18.  Pray for good attendance and that the Lord would provide all that is needed for these two trainings. Pray for Abi Mensah co-leading the training in Ghana, and Kofi Kakrabah who will co-lead that in Sierra Leone. They are praying for leaders in Nigeria to mobilize the Christian camp fraternity there for a similar event soon.

El Monte received word that a higher court has agreed to hear their appeal. The battle to save their campsite continues. This remains a very expensive challenge.  Please pray for the funds needed for their legal defense and for God's protection, wisdom, strength and grace in the days ahead.

A camp in Asia is struggling with leadership and board related issues. Please pray for God’s healing, peace and wisdom, and that the situation can be resolved quickly to God’s glory.
